Everyone enjoyed the incredible expectations that the 50s had. Mad Men and other retro programs have highlighted some of these---only 7 questions meant we needed some tie breaker questions to award our prize, tho.

Wow.. this was hysterical. Especially since I didn't show it to my 18 year old daughter before the shower. The expressions on her face alone as she read how to be a good wife to her older sister was PRICELESS!! We took video and showed it to my husband as well.. he just about died! Toooo funny.

This game was really fun and envoked a lot of laughs. I placed 1 copy of it in the middle of each table and encouraged people to read it at their own leisure. Then at the end, we collected the papers and gave them the quiz. The answers were often funny and everyone got a good laugh. This is very unique game and will be the hit of your party.

This game was a lot of fun. I had everyone take the quiz first and then read the answers. It was fun to see what people wrote- some got very "creative" too. Then I passed out the story and it got people talking about what a housewives life was like "back in the day". It was a great way to get people in the shower mood.

I had my guests fill out the cute answer sheets first and then I read the 1950's article to them. It was a great, easy way to start off my games and everyone was laughing - although some women pointed out that some of those old tricks were worth keeping! I had several people tell me later how unique that game was, and they really enjoyed it. Definitely worth the price.

Maybe not realistic for everyone everyday, but what a nice way to show your love for your husband. I'm not sure why this is considered humorous. Just the world we live in, I suppose.

I ordered this game for a friends shower, but I made the rules different. Instead of reading the story and then passing out the quiz. I passed out the quiz and had everyone guess what they thought the answers would be. Then I read the story, highlighting the answers as we came across them.
It was amusing to see everyone's reaction when the more extreme answers came up. We determined a winner based on who had the most correct guesses.
It was really funny, and everyone seemed to enjoy it.

The women of 2010 did not appreciate the good wife of the 1950's. I found myself having to add excitement to the story as I read it because most were looking at me as if I had two heads to suggest that a good wife did those kinds of things in the 50's. The fun girls changed the answers and said what they would do as a good wife!

This went over far better than I thought it would, more than half of the guests were gals in their 20's and couldn't believe this was from a real 1950's textbook. They thought it was a real hoot. Then some of the grandma's were saying, "why is this a game? This is the way it is." A real eyeopener in terms of how generations have changed. Could have been more questions in the quiz tho as we ended up with several winners.

Our family held back-to-back bridal showers on Saturday and Sunday. Your game was so successful on Sat. that I was asked to bring it to the Sun. shower, too. Since I had accidentally printed too many answer sheets, there were plenty of supplies. There were peals of laughter throughout both parties, groans at the idea of cleaning up the children and trying to keep them that way until Daddy got home, startled shrieks of surprise at the use of the word "gay" (which I explained had changed definition a lot in the last 5 decades), one person announced,"That had to have been written by a man!", and one of the brides-to-be asked, facetiously, "What's a dust cloth?". There were only a few of us at the parties who had been married in the '50s or early '60s and we really could look back and see how marriage has changed from being totally male-centered to an more equal partnership. We ended by applauding the "Womens' Libbers" who got us to where we are today. I've been asked by another granddaugh

This game just opened up some great story telling by the 1950 Grandmothers, aunts and in-laws along with gales of laughter . My co-hostess and I took up one of the suggested feedbacks and had folks first answer the questions "ad lib" and this brought forth lots of funny answers and then we read the textbook excerpt and gave the test. In both versions, prizes were given to those whose answers matched those of the bride-to-be. We made of copies of the excerpt and gave each guest their very own . You can't get a better way for folks to talk about sex roles, romantic ideals and good old fashioned( as well as modern) sexisms all of which truly get in the way of human bonding and healthy marriages.

We had a good time with this game. I had a newlywed friend read it on the spot and I think her tone of voice and expressions made the game. It's not immediately evident that the reading is supposed to be humorous. The laughs took awhile to get rolling, but when they did, everyone enjoyed it. I will say that the one downside - at least at the shower I threw - everyone got all of the answers correct! I guess it was too easy! You might toss in one tougher question so you have one winner instead of everyone!

I read the article aloud and added "gifts" to go along with it. For example, when talking about having dinner prepared for the husband, I pulled out a can of Dinty Moore stew. When talking about making the home quiet and peaceful, I gave the bride a set of ear plugs for the groom, etc. There are lots of opportunities for gag gifts with this game. We did the quiz but only in a "shout-out" manner because the reading took a longer amount of time with the gag gifts interjected.

How to be a Good Wife got some very unique answers on the quiz. ... you were by far the best resource with the largest selection and variety that I found. I bought several books (An idiot's guide to Bridal Showers, a Book on bridal games and 2 others), but I wound up using the games from your website and none from the others.
